Crooner Has It: The Pre-show Martini
Updated: May 18
It's time for another gig, and I'm kicking things off with a classic Martini. Shaken, not stirred!
A couple of legends tell the story of how this famous drink came to be; however, my favorite comes from Martinez, California.
Allegedly, the Gin Martini was created for a man living in Martinez who had recently struck gold in the 1800s. The gentleman had asked for champagne, but the bar did not have any. So, the bartender whipped up a cocktail based on what they had and thus made the martini.
Another story states that the martini was created at New York's Knickerbocker Hotel for the one and only John B. Rockefeller. We may never know the true origins of the Gin Martini, but I can tell you this drink is a staple no matter where you go.
James Bond, Dorothy Parker, and Frank Sinatra were all known to quench their thirst with one. So please follow the recipe below and have a drink with me.
